The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency, Cde. Robert Mugabe officially opened Gweru Community Information Centre on the 1st of September 2017 in Gweru. The colourful ceremony was graced by senior government officials, political leaders, traditional leaders, strategic partners, captains of industry and Zimbabweans from all walks of life.

The Community Information Centre (CIC) is a one stop ICT shop which offers the following services:

  • Internet surfing
  • Photocopying
  • Printing
  • Scanning
  • Faxing
  • Laminating and
  • Gaming

Zimpost, under guidance from the Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Postal and Courier Services and funded by Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) is setting up CICs in all districts.

The setting up of the CICs is meant to bridge the digital divide between the urban and the rural communities as most people in cities have access to computers, whilst the majority in the rural areas still have limited access to technology.
